Internet Research Agency Bot Remixer

Exploring the russian twitter troll bots through creation of fictional avatars

Internet Research Agency is a Russian institution responsible for the bots that consolidated tribalism and polarisation of the US population before and during the US 2016 elections. The agency’s medium of the greatest influence were the popular social networks like Twitter and Facebook.

The Remixer website asks visitors to remix the twitter bots’s profile images, names and their profile descriptions to create new profiles of fictional bots. This hands on experience aims to make the database accessible and familiarise the audience with the characteristics of these bots. The database used comes from the Twitter 2016 elections integrity release. The music for this project was composed by Ondrej Solčány.
